TANK WAGON CLEANING
AS SHINY AS NEW
After having transported clear or dark mineral oils, tank wagons need to be cleaned with water and additional agents according to the requirements stipulated by the German Union of Private Goods Wagon Companies VPI. As tanks might appear to be clean but still contain some residues, we follow up the automated cleaning run by manual cleaning, if necessary, and subsequent drying. Safety is always our top priority. For this reason, we determine the oxygen demand and MAK (Maximum Concentration at the Workplace) value prior to cleaning a tank wagon that has been used for the transportation of hazardous goods.
REMOVING WHAT YOU CANNOT SEE
Cleaning tank wagons used for the transport of compressed gases requires a lot of care. For about fifteen years, we have been successfully using a flare system to catch and burn gas residues that flow into the flare as soon as the tank is flooded with water. Upon draining the water, we thoroughly dry the wagon before resealing it.
DUST SHALL LEAVE NO SCRATCHES
After the transportation of dusty goods, it is particularly important not to damage the inside coating of a tank wagon during cleaning. For this reason, we apply our traditional high-pressure cleaning method with particular care, commonly reducing the pressure to 50 bar. Depending on their contamination, however, tank wagons with no inside coating can be cleaned at a much higher pressure, if necessary. If we need to remove the drains and valves during cleaning, we meticulously check their sealing capacity after reinstallation. This way, we can assure you that our wagons are both perfectly clean and safe!
